Tranmere Park Primary School is set within small but attractive grounds, away from busy traffic, and has excellent facilities which are well used by the children throughout the year.
The school was built in 1970 catering for six classes of children, two further classrooms were added in 2000 and a purpose built Foundation Stage Unit with two additional classrooms was completed in 2009. In 2026 the former school bungalow was extended and fully refitted and is now home to our Pre School, Ducklings. In addition to Ducklings Pre School which caters for 30 pupils, we have a further eleven classes, 2 Reception classes of 22 pupils, 3 Y1/2 classes, 3 Y3/4 classes and 3 Y5/6 classes. Each year group other than Pre School admits 45 pupils.
There are four playground areas within the school grounds. Children in our Ducklings Pre School and Reception classes have outdoor adventure play areas set within an attractive wooded setting. All playgrounds were recently re-surfaced providing open spaces for children to play during break times and lunchtimes and are well utilised for PE lessons and after school clubs. We have developed a range of features on each playground, including new play equipment, designated ball games areas, scrap sheds for imaginative play, a climbing wall and quiet areas and reading sheds for children who want to sit and talk or read a book.
We have an outdoor classroom which provides a space outside of the usual classroom environment enabling our teachers to take their classes outside and a teaching space for our ‘Muddy Puddle’ days which take place half termly. It also provides our ‘Forest Rangers’ with a base. The ‘Forest Rangers’ develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in the natural environment within our school grounds.
Shaded areas are available in all playgrounds and within the grounds we have well developed school gardens, including garden, pond and allotment areas which are well maintained by our fantastic gardening club.
In addition to the attractive outdoor environment, the school has a range of IT resources to offer pupils. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard which are well used by teachers and pupils to enhance teaching and learning. Favourites with the children are our class sets of iPads and laptops which are used to assist learning across the curriculum.
